We know how to Reverse Global Warming. The technology is available, but the willingness is missing. If we don't stop Runaway Global Climate Change, it will kill billions of people and cause the extinction of thousands of species. Because conserving natural resources, environmental protection, and environmental conservation are critically important, we have an entire website focused on temperate rainforest conservation. http://www.RedwoodForests.info Climate protection is our main objective. We intend to save the environment, by showing corporations The Debt-Free, True-Corporate-Democracy Business Structure This will allow corporations to transition into using green technology , protect the environment, reduce their carbon footprint, and still make a profit. |

. Carbon Capture is the name of a technique for taking carbon dioxide out of the exhaust systems of air polluting electric power companies instead of releasing the toxic gases into the atmosphere through the company's chimneys and smoke stacks. Coal-burning, electric power plants are the world's major, industrial air polluters. In the United States, they produce more pollution than all of America's cars and trucks combined. Carbon capture is an essential, but still missing component of fossil-fuel-burning, electric power plants. Why is it missing? Because it's a fairytale that will never happen. Peddling the carbon-capture-fairytale is a way of saying, "We can keep burning coal. We'll fix the problem, but not now." Actually it's a way to make more money. |

Why is Carbon Capture a Fairytale? |
|
. Here's what you might here if you persist in asking questions: Carbon capturing consumes twenty five percent of the energy that burning coal produces. The cost of converting the gaseous CO2 into liquid CO2 takes another 20% of the of the energy that burning coal produces. There are very few places available to store the captured CO2. The cost of transferring the liquid CO2 to storage areas is also incredible expensive. There is no guarantee that the CO2 will stay where it's placed. Proposals are to pump the CO2 in liquid form deep into underground storage areas. The coal-burning power plants in the United States dump more CO2 into the atmosphere than all of America's cars and trucks combined. .
Here's what you won't here from the coal-burning power industry: Putting CO2 into the atmosphere is incredible expensive in terms of the destruction it causes. The price of taking it back out is far greater than the price of not putting it in in the first place. Dumping unwanted CO2 in to the atmosphere simply transfers responsibility for dealing with the unwanted CO2 to someone else. Coal mining is tapping into and destroying Mother Nature's carbon sink.˛ By burning coal the power plants are taking already-captured CO2 from nature's carbon sinks and pumping it back into the Earth's atmosphere. The atmosphere already has too much CO2 in it. We are very close to a critical, tipping point in the life cycle of the Earth -- the point where with just a little more CO2 in the atmosphere, Runaway Global Warming (Global Climate Change) will become unstoppable ˛ and it will soon accelerate exponentially **msc1 to a level that will be devastating and deadly for billions of humans and for trillions of other life form. The owners of the coal-burning power plants are, in essence, killing their own children and grandchildren for a few dollars profit. .
Here's what you will here: The Technology required to extract the CO2 is incredible expensive. The time required to actually put this into practice is measured in decades. The technology to capture carbon is not fully researched. Very little money is going into carbon sequestering research. . |

Ignoring Consequences: |
|
. Here's still another, ignored, basic, fact of life: Every action has a price -- every action produces a result and every action has consequences. The price has to be paid and the consequence must be faced. The price, the result and the consequences do not go away by ignoring them. In this case the action is producing unwanted CO2 and then dumping it into an already overfilled atmosphere. In the past, companies simply dumped their waste products wherever they could, and pretended that that solved the problem. Polluting rivers with toxic liquids, polluting the air with toxic gases, and polluting the land with toxic solid and liquid waste simple shifts the consequences away from the polluter. When there was only a small number of industries violating their responsibility, the environment could absorb the pollution without major consequences showing up. Today, with millions of industries raping and polluting Mother Nature, their collective consequences are creating major environmental changes. The price of producing toxic materials will be paid. So the question today is "Who will pay the price and what is the least expensive way to pay that price?" . |
.
.
|
. The Big Question: If carbon capture and storage is such an unrealistic proposal, then why are the power company executives touting carbon capture as the future of coal burning power plants? |
|
What's Keeping the Industry Alive? |
|
. The Push for Money and Short-term Profit! Those pumping CO2 into the atmosphere know that carbon capture is an unrealistic option. It's simply nor practical, and yet they are still peddling it as the future of coal-burning power plants. This attitude is typical antiquated thinking of what we call the Grandfather Generation. Those who own the coal-burning power plants are people whose first and often only consideration is short-term profit. That may have worked 150 years ago, but in today's world, ignoring pollution is antiquated, out-dated, obsolete, dysfunctional and the consequences are becoming deadly and irreversible. . |
.
.
|
The Bottom Line |
|
. In closely examining this issue, the evidence tells us that coal-burning, electric power plants are not only the world's major, industrial air polluters, the damage done in mining the coal is also incredibly destructive, carbon capture is not practical, and there's no way to deal with the CO2 once it's captured. A far better plan is to focus on other more direct, and less destructive ways on fulfilling human energy needs. Please remember that the sun is the Earth's only source of power. All power generation is a direct or indirect use of the sun's energy. (including nuclear power) |

Notes and References |
|
. **msc1 **msc1 If you notice the way a fire expands, or a disease spreads, or tree grows, you'll notice an exponential growth rate (1 - 2 - 4 - 8 - 16 - 32) and not a linear growth (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6). The evidence regarding Global climate change points strongly to exponential rates of change. |
