Why Offer the Reward?

1)    Because Global Warming is 
the biggest and most urgent problem 
that human kind has faced in all human history.

2)    Failure to resolve this problem will be deadly, devastating, and irreversible.  

3)   Solving each of the three problems for which the rewards are to be offered will make a major impact on the reversal of Global Warming.   A  Foolproof Contraceptive would significantly reduce the population pressures.  Cold Fusion would completely solve the energy crisis, and an Enhanced Biochar Creating System would be a major tool in removing excess CO2 from the atmosphere.   All three are urgently needed.   

And then there's the awareness factor.   Offering these rewards would in themselves create a a lot of publicity and the public desperately needs to be aware of and focused of solving all three of these major problems. 

A Clarity of Intention

Let us speak in more detail and with more clarity about the three rewards.   What is actually required is to focus on the solution not the means to get there.   

A  Foolproof Contraceptive:   The intent of this goal is to reduce the pressures from excessive human population.  **rgw3    The goal is to enable humans to engage in sexual activity and not produce more unwanted babies.   Because sex is not going to go away,  what is required is a way to achieve human sexual fulfillment without diseases or unwanted pregnancies.   Until someone creates a real life Orgasmatron,**¹  seeking a fool proof contraceptive appears to be close to an accurate description of the goal.    

An Enhanced Biochar Creating System:     This is not a clear description of the goal.   It describes a means for reaching the goal.   The goal is the create/ find/ discover/ invent a way to effectively, efficiently, and quickly remove excess carbon dioxide form the Earth's atmosphere at a reasonable cost. **²   The reward is intended for the person or group of people who accomplish the goal.  

We are proposing that a 100 million dollar reward be given to the person of group of people who come up with a functional, effective, efficient, and practical way to remove major amounts of the excess CO2 presently  in the Earth's atmosphere -- a way to separate CO2  into carbon and oxygen -- a way that exceeds the proposed process called "biochar," **³  such as  a process that is faster, less expensive, more efficient, requires less effort,  requires less energy, produces more desirable results, et cetera.  

A Functional, Practical Cold Fusion System **⁴    This is also not a  clear description of the goal.  It too, describes a means for reaching the goal.   The goal is to create/find/discover/invent a way to fulfill human energy needs that can replace burning fossil fuels (particularly coal) and do so at a reasonable cost. **²   The reward is intended for the person or group of people who accomplish the goal.    

A fourth Reward:   There is another major goal that probably should be added to this list, and that is finding a practical, efficient and functional way to store energy.   Present battery technology is grossly inadequate.   

Fortunately, Mother Nature already has an incredibly efficient energy storage system.   That system revolves around the energy held in the bonding and breaking of atomic structures.   So, more accurately, we need to discover how to tap into that stored energy.   We are already doing so with nuclear fission (atomic bombs and power plants)   

What is still missing is an atomic fusion process.   A functional and practical cold fusion power system would be a way of tapping into this existing power-storage system.  It would automatically eliminate the present, power-storage problem.    

Perhaps then, we should double the reward for finding the cold fusion system.    Perhaps we should do both -- add a 100 million dollar reward for a new energy storage system and double the reward for finding the cold fusion system.
